Backpack Ministry:
We started our local backpack ministry with Melrose Park Elementary around 2009 . Since then other area churches have taken part in this ministry as well, within their own manner. At this time we help feed around 30 kids from that elementary school on a weekly basis during the school year. Our public school system has a program to help feed them during the summer months. Donation bins are available in the Fellowship Hall.

Where did this program originate?
The program originated in Kentucky when a school nurse realized children were coming to school hungry on Monday morning due to a lack of food security at home. Children who are hungry are not ready to learn. Schools can offer breakfast and lunch during the week but often children have little to eat over the weekends. She started sending bags of food for the weekends via school bus drivers.
Feed my Lambs:
(Mission Dinners)
Feed my Lambs is a ministry we partner with St. James Episcopal Church. Our church provides meals on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month to St. James. First Presbyterian Church of Lake City, FL does a meal for Feed My Lambs on the 4th Thursday of the month, where we provide approximately 100 meals.
