Youth Elder: Beverly Schulz

I was born and raised in Miami and moved to Lake City as a college student and have lived here with my husband Mike ever since. I’ve attended church at FPC for over 40 years and raised our children Ryan and Becky in this church. I have worked with children and youth for most of my adult life. I worked as a children’s librarian at Columbia County Public Library for 23 years until taking an early retirement to care for my first grandchild. Since then, three more grandchildren were added to our family and I have been a nanny to all of them while their parents teach school.

I have volunteered at FPC as a Sunday School teacher, Youth sponsor and Elder, VBS leader, Mission Elder, Praise Team and choir member, cook, and various other church projects. I spent six years on the church staff as Children’s Ministry Coordinator. I have volunteered in Columbia County schools as a classroom assistant, PTO board member, SAC volunteer, Band Parent, chaperone and as a storyteller for 35 years.

When I worked at the church, I directed our Logos ministry for children and Youth. The main requirement for Logos workers is to Love God, Love Children and Youth, and to treat everyone as a Child of God. That pretty well sums up my heart.
