I thought I would change gears a little and talk about something else that I’ve been able to be a part of the last several months. Sound and Video, or Audio Visual Tech as some would call it.
I must admit that I was a little nervous and intimidated the first morning that I sat behind that board. Thankfully, not only did Jodi and Matt do a great job developing what we needed to get us through this past year, but they also left incredibly detailed step by step instructions to work with the tools that we have been blessed with.
I had no idea how much work was being done back in the booth. There are two separate sound mixes to set and keep up with. The sound that we hear in the Sanctuary, and what the people worshiping online hear, are two different mixes. And the video is where it really gets fun. Depending on the Sunday, we have six to seven different video feeds that we pull from to put the online production together.
Thanks to Nikki’s hard work and constant research, we are learning new ways to package feeds together every month. This allows us to have picture in picture so that you can see the wide church shot while also seeing the words to the songs. Or see the welcome slide while seeing Tim play the piano.
It’s been fun learning how to help our church family in a new way. As I look to the future, we plan to teach some of the youth (that are interested) so that they can help as well.
Speaking of youth, they are still doing well. Staying involved on zoom and our outdoor get-togethers but we are all looking forward to our full re-opening. God bless you!
